8 Weeks old and finding my thumb

We had our (2 month) check up on Wednesday. Brinkley is growing like a weed. She is now 9 lbs. 4 oz. (between 25-50%) 21 1/4 in. height (between 25-50%) and her head is now 14 1/2in. (finally on the chart at in the 10th percentile). The visit was great except for the shots. We have had some concern with her stomach. She grunts and squirms like crazy and often like she is in pain. The RX gas drops helped some, but Dr. Miller told us we could try Mylanta and it has really help so far. I hope this will get better with age. We did have blood drawn for a billirubin check /c her eyes are still a little jaundice in the corners. She hated having her heel stuck and it took about 10 minutes to get enough blood. I wish they would find a better way to get blood than one drop at a time, I mean one drop might be fine, but not when you have to fill a vile. I hated seeing her cry/scream. When the nurse finally finished I picked her up and she was fine; however, then another nurse came in for the shots. Brinkley was fine until the stick and her eyes got so big, mouth wide open and then came the SCREAMING. My heart broke and I started crying. Thank goodness for Daddy being the strong one. I hated knowing my little one was in pain. She was fine by the time we left the office. She was sound asleep and actually slept good that night.

Brinkley has been sucking on her fingers, hands, arms, anything she can find since birth; but she is now intentionally sucking her thumb and fingers. She sucked her thumb for about 10 minutes the other day but when it falls out she goes crazy trying to get it back in but she can't quite get it. After her bath she was trying to get it in. Jason tried to help her but the more he tried she would try to suck his fingers:)

Daddy loves fixing her hair. She however was not so crazy about it:0
She really didn't mind but she was getting hungry and we have learned not to stand in the way of a girl and her food!

Just chillin on the changing table. She loves her changing pad. As soon as we laid her here she calmed down and just looked around.

Once her hair dries it will not lay down so we took advantage of the hair sticking straight up and I added a bow. She is stinkin cute. I love my little angel.

A quick clempse into our lives

I haven't had much time to blog lately. Jason was out of town for the majority of the week and then Nana came to visit this weekend. I am now finding a small amount of time to catch up, although I really wish I was sleeping.
Last weekend my friend Christina, her husband Brian and their sweet Baby Jack came to visit. Sorry guys we didn't get any pictures of you. Jack and Brinkley enjoyed their playdate:) As you can see by the pictures Jack kept trying to kiss Brinkley. His parents will have to do a better job teaching him not to be so forward. As you can see, Brinkley didn't mind. (Sorry Elias, a new man is moving in on your territory, you better tell your mommy we need to hang out more.) We had a great time visiting. Thank You Christina for coming over. It was great to see you and Baby Jack...who has grown so much in such a short time. He is so cute and loves to smile.

This is Brinkley's hair-do after bath time, thanks to her daddy. Next time I'll remember to fix it before it dries, here I didn't and the next day it wouldn't lay down at all. It wouldn't have mattered but we had to run a few errands..like to the doctors office etc... No one cared but I laughed every time I looked at her.

We love to go walking in the mornings, especially now that we have had some great weather. Jason loves her in her hats. ( I hope her head will grow soon so more of them will fit.) At her two week check up her head didn't even measure on the chart, she has both her mommy and daddy to thank for that...we both have little heads). Anyway, we go Wednesday for out 2 month check up (yeah, I'm ready to see her new weight and length) and shots (boo, we hate to see her cry, thankfully daddy will be there too).

Loving from Megan

I must say first of all I am not good at updating often, so I have to catch up all at once. Be sure to scroll down to see what's been going on.

I must say I am so glad to have my brother back close to home. It is so fun to see them so much. They are our neighbors so we don't have to plan times to get together, we can just walk down a few houses and hang out for a bit whnever we want. It is especially great because 1.) I get to see Megan all the time and now she really knows who I am. 2.)She and Brinkley will get to grow up together. She already thinks Brinkley is her baby doll. She loves to hold her and kiss her. It was so cute b/c she just kept looking at her and kissing her and playing with her toes. Don't worry although it may look like it Brinkley was not harmed during this process, I was holding her head from behind, which Megan did not like and she kept trying to make me let go. We were sitting on the bed so Brinkley was basically lying on the bed propped up by Megan.I love that Brinkley will have family so close.

The many faces of Brinkley

Well the first two pictures are what a feeding is like if Brinkley continues to fall asleep. No matter how hard I try to wake her by kissing, moving, patting, rubbing, changing positions, etc... she will not wake, however if I lay her down it only takes her a minute to wake. I typically just lay her on the floor in front of me b/c at this point getting up to place her back in the crib just to get her right back up is not worth it. he I enjoy watching all her funny faces. (Oh, yes I know she is in a blue outfit. Jason and I bought it on our Disney vacation back in March before we knew what we were having and blue seemed better to go either way rather than pink...& I just knew Jason was wrong in thinking it was a girl & I was right that it was a boy, I'll know better next time:0).

I knwo this is really a gas smile, but I love them. She looks so sweet when she smiles. I hope to see many of her smiles to come.

Jeep Ridin'

I actually left Brinkley for a little bit (like 25 minutes) to enjoy some time with my husband & the jeep that I haven't been able to ride in for a while. It actually started because my brother wanted to get his jeep in some mud (just alittle since it is a standard jeep).. and we all know you don't have to ask Jason twice. So we ventured out to find a little mud left by the last bit of rain we had. Jason wants to go back after the next rain since the mud holes were few and far between. We did however manage to get a litle dirty.
Brinkley was in the great hands of her Aunt Tanta and cousin Megan. She really just slept the whole time but I was still worried about her. I am sure this is just teh beginning of the worrying.
I included a picture of Brinkley outside of the jeep, but one day she'll ride inside (and Mom, when she does she'll be ok I promise).

Happy Anniversary

I am way late on this post but that's life with a newborn. Jason & I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on August 28. It was last week during Jason's crazy week with work. It was actually really nice. We grabbed take out and ate in the hotel room with Brinkley. We were all pretty tired but it was still really nice. It is amazing to see how our lives have changed over the past three years (6 years that we've been together). I thank God for such a wonderful husband and daddy to our little girl. You are my best friend.

Labor Day Weekend

We spent the weekend in Columbus visiting lots of family and friends. We also went to my cousins wedding in Starkville. I think Brinkley is trying to catch up on her sleep from all the going. She was quite the cranky little girl last night. She was so tired she just fought sleep. Finally by about 11:00 we finally got her down and she slept great all night, well she only got up at 12, 3, and 7 so for me it was a great night and she went directly back to sleep after she ate each time which was an answered prayer.

Brinkley's first wedding. She did so good...mainly because she was held and cuddled all night by mommy and Pop.

This was taken Sunday afternoon (I just saw it as I was downloading pics). We were all really tired. Brinkley sleeps like her mommy and Pop, wherever the head lands. I must say that is a quality I am glad she got. Her daddy can only sleep good if it is quiet and he is in his bed.

This is Brinkley's favorite Great Aunt Derinda and my cousin Sarah. We ate with them Friday night and Aunt Derinda was a total Brinkley hog. She at least warned us that she would be. She is also credited with the wonderful bedding she made for Brinkley. brinkley looks forward to some cute dresses (please oh please Aunt Derinda, I thought you had a great idea in wanting to make some).

This is sweet Deanna, she made the cute door hanger for Brinkley. Thank You!

Cousin Kathy...Nana said we definately needed a picture of this b/c Kathy only held her to make everyone else happy...she prefers them a little bigger:)
This is my "big Sis" Mary, & "Lil Sis" Carson. I started keeping Carson when she was 2 years old and they became family. We figured out that Brinkley and Carson will be almost the same # of years apart that she & I are. It is crazy how fast time flies. Carson definately got her looks from her momma. I can't wait for Brinkley to spend more time with them, at least with Carson, I am worried what Mary will teach her:)

This is Sam "my little brother". I remember when he was born, I can't believe he's grown up so fast.

Four Generations! Brinkley, Me, my dad, and his parents.

Pop and his girls.
